Under light boost (0–4 psi), manifold pressure is too high to draw vapors in, so the solenoid instead routes them to the turbo inlet, where the natural pressure drop through the air intake creates enough suction. However, there is a flaw in this design. The EVAP sensor is located far away from the inlet and there is a long hose run between the two. This can lead to weak readings at the sensor.
